You can trial a wide range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) apps through KimTech using your NDIS funding.
When you request an iPad hire with KimTech, you can select multiple apps to be installed — including AAC apps, early cause and effect apps, play-based apps, alternative keyboards, and more. If you request more than five apps, please note that a longer setup fee will apply (beyond the standard one-hour setup time).
If you don’t see the AAC app you would like installed, simply add a note when completing your iPad hire request form, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Custom Keyguards Available for AAC Apps
To support accurate access, KimTech also offers custom keyguards for use during your AAC app trial. Our AAC keyguards, iPad keyguards, and AAC app keyguards are carefully designed to match the specific grid layout and app configuration selected for the user.
Custom keyguards are particularly beneficial for users trialling AAC apps such as Proloquo2go, LAMP Words for Life, TD Snap Motor Plan, PODD, SimPODD, Grid, and TouchChat with WordPower, where precise touch and motor planning are important.
For additional support during your iPad hire, you can also request expert assistance from Yooralla’s AAC & AT Consultants. Their assistive technology specialists can assist with:
Device and app setup
Language system selection
Grid layout customisation
Symbol set configuration
Implementation strategies for AAC success
This ensures that your AAC device trial, iPad keyguards, and AAC app keyguards are optimised for the participant’s needs.
